about

On ACEN016 we welcome Liverpool-based artist M T Hall to the label, who delivers two acidic explorations suited for the dancefloor at any stage in the night.

New Ruins instantly lands us in M T Hall’s world, inspired by the decaying fabric of our club and cultural spaces which have been disrupted by inner city development and regeneration. The track is introduced by skilfully manipulated field recordings before a charging acid bassline makes it way to the fore. A precise four to the floor drum pattern locks the groove in place, whilst rhythmic sirens, woozy pads and driving basslines take the listener on a disorientating journey over the track’s 9-minute duration.

Another Kind of Delirium finds us similarly immersed in M T Hall’s soundscapes from the outset, this time representing a melancholic anodyne to this climate, and the moments of intimacy we share within these spaces. A dreamy synth line, backed by celestial pads and intricate acid lines, conjures an ethereal, profound atmosphere. Choral harmonies and trance-esque synths are introduced, accompanied by a driving kick, before subdued field recordings gently bring the track back down to earth.

New Ruins is available across all platforms from the 14th of May.
